Why had I not tried Chergui?

Good heavens, me who loves warm close-to-skin stuff, who can rhapsodize about Parfumerie Generale L'Ombre Fauve...this has been languishing in the samples drawer--for quite a while, based on its relative location.

Anyway, I've been happily huffing my wrist for over an hour now.  I don't quite get myself; not a fan of the gourmands, yet enjoying this clearly sweet thick warm vanilla spice.

Oh, wait...now I realize why the little rascal vial hid in plain sight...only now is fall coming.  I've found something I can enjoy during the day job, in the cooler weather--and I can enjoy it without challenging any other sensibilities with too large scent clouds, or the intensities of nether notes.  Hmm; I think this fall I'll cut through rainy days with incense (Black Cashmere, Nu), and deepen the warmth of that fall sun with Chergui. Or L'ombre Fauve or Organza Indecence, or my cheap thrills Eisenberg Jose.

And then there's Narcisse Noir...or...and...

I traded in all my summer scents to the cupboard and brought out my fall scents. Glad you are enjoying the Chergui (I highly suggest you check out Madini's Musk Pierre and White Musk). And was may I ask is Jose?

Ah, suggestions always welcome! Madini, eh? More new to me. There are two Ava Luxe musks I have...Nude and Pearl...do you know those? And Les Nereides makes a musk that is nice/comfortable/skin scent-y.

And you may always ask... ;) ... Jose is the self-named scent by Jose Eisenberg, which apparently is out of production. It was a amber w/vanilla number (touch of fruit on top, hint of spice and coffee) that was a budget recommended item for me...but of course, as soon as I discovered it, POOF! it was gone.

I have tried the Ava Luxe musks and enjoyed them, but my true beloved musk for the perfect skin scent is Auric Blends Egyptian Goddes.

I had a similar experience. I had a sample vial of Chergui for nearly a year before trying it. When I did, I nearly passed out I was so enamored! Words fail me, I cannot even describe Chergui. I don't want to - I just want to say it's divine.

Other worthy Autumn scents I've enjoyed are: Dawn Spencer Hurwitz' Evolution, Sonoma Scent Studio's Champagne de Bois, Michael Storer's Monk, and Soivohle' (Liz Zorn) Underworld (Underworld is a holy grail for me). I'm making some suggestions because you mention 3 of my other favorite fall fragrances (DK Black Cashmere, YSL Nu and Givenchy Organza Indecence) so maybe we have similar taste.

Yay! Recommendations from two nice noses! :)

Jen, I don't know the Egyptian Goddess, though I do know the line--will seek out that one.

Hello, Abigail--nice to have you here! Funny, I have a sample vial of Michael Storer Monk waiting for me (I ordered a set of 4 Storer scents). And I agree, LZ Underworld is something special. I had an opportunity to sample some other wonders from her cabinet at Chicocoa...that Antique series is really something. I was all perfumed out by the end of the evening, so I gratefully took the samples she was offering from her new series, and will be trying them soon.

Will look for an opportunity to try DSH Evolution and SSS Champagne de Bois.

Oh, I love Chergui so much, and don't own any. I will have to put that right very soon. I love it when people do an enthusiastic tribute to a scent I love that has been around for awhile. Chergui is not in the realm of the classic just yet, but I think it could get there in time. A classic of the oughts, the first decade of the 21st.
